Bipasha Basu deletes initial comment on Deepika Padukone’s daughter Devi after revealing their old conversation about the name

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh revealed the name of their second daughter, Devi Padukone Singh, on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, prompting congratulatory messages from fans and members of the film industry. Among those who reacted was Bipasha Basu, Deepika’s co-star from Bachna Ae Haseeno, whose initial comment on Instagram offered a glimpse into a conversation the two actresses had shared in the past.

Responding to Deepika’s announcement, Bipasha wrote, “So you were really serious when you told me you love the name Devi.” The comment suggested that Deepika had spoken about her fondness for the name well before choosing it for her younger daughter. The remark subsequently drew attention on social media, with users discussing the actresses’ exchange. Bipasha later deleted her initial comment and left a shorter message instead, writing “Devi” followed by a red heart emoji.

The exchange also brought attention to a shared detail in the lives of the two actresses. Bipasha and her husband, Karan Singh Grover, welcomed their daughter in November 2022 and named her Devi Basu Singh Grover. The couple frequently shares glimpses of their family life on social media.

Deepika and Ranveer, meanwhile, welcomed their first daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, in September 2024. With the announcement of their second daughter’s name, the couple shared the news with fans during the Dussehra celebrations in 2026.

Deepika and Bipasha worked together in Bachna Ae Haseeno, the 2008 romantic comedy directed by Siddharth Anand. The film also starred Ranbir Kapoor, Minissha Lamba and Kunal Kapoor. Their latest social media interaction has brought the former co-stars back into conversation, this time over Deepika’s choice of name for her newborn daughter.

While Bipasha’s initial comment was brief, it offered a personal glimpse into their past conversation and the actress’s recollection of Deepika’s fondness for the name Devi.

If your film is good, then it will work but if your film is bad, then it will affect it but not because of the trend. Everybody has freedom of expression. If an actor, actress, or film person has the right to say anything about any situation, then he/she should also be brave enough to sort of go through the situation.” Talking in the context of Aamir Khan’s fil...
