Anushka Luhar talks about playing a “boss woman” in Tum Mere Ho; calls her character "sexy, hot siren"

Actor Anushka Luhar is set to make her Hindi feature film debut with Tum Mere Ho, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 23. The film stars Gurmeet Choudhary and Isha Malviya, with Anushka playing Nisha, a confident and glamorous woman who knows what she wants.

After making her Telugu film debut with Chakkora, Anushka is exploring a different kind of character in her Hindi debut. Describing Nisha, the actor said, “Nisha is this sexy, hot siren who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. She’s bold, commanding, and unapologetically herself. She likes things done her way and definitely has that boss-woman energy about her. I’d say she’s the woman who drives everyone in the film a little crazy!” Anushka Luhar on landing her Hindi film debut Anushka said she went through multiple rounds of auditions and readings after being approached through a casting agent. She later met the film’s director, Ashish, and co-star Gurmeet Choudhary before receiving confirmation that she had been selected.

Recalling the moment, she said, “Tum Mere Ho has been special to me in so many ways, but most importantly, it marks my big-screen debut, and I got to play a character that was incredibly exciting to explore as an actor. It was such a special feeling when I got the call that I had been selected for the role. I’m really grateful that I got to be a part of this film and bring this character to life.”

The actor also spoke about working with Gurmeet and Isha Malviya, describing the experience as an enjoyable one. She said, “Sharing screen space with Gurmeet and Isha has been such a fun roller-coaster ride! They both bring such youthful, vibrant energy to the set, and we’ve shared a lovely chemistry as co-actors. Gurmeet, in particular, has been incredibly supportive, both as an actor and as the producer of our film. He’s genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve come across, and he made me feel so welcome throughout the process.”

For Anushka, the film has also been an opportunity to build friendships with her co-stars. “More than just a wonderful working experience, I feel like I’ve come away from this film with some truly lovely friendships, and that’s something I’ll always cherish,” she added. Anushka Luhar on playing contrasting characters in Tum Mere Ho and Chakkora Anushka’s role in Tum Mere Ho differs considerably from her character in Chakkora. In the Telugu film, she plays Koumudini, a classical dancer from Vizag with a sweet and innocent personality. Nisha, meanwhile, is a glamorous, assertive woman who runs her own business.

Talking about the differences between the two characters, Anushka said, “Nisha and Koumudini are two characters who are worlds apart, and that’s what makes playing them so exciting for me. Nisha is a glamorous, hot siren who’s a complete boss woman, runs her own business, and knows exactly what she wants. Koumudini, on the other hand, is a simple, sweet classical dancer from Vizag who falls head over heels in love with the hero and has a very innocent, endearing presence.”

She added, “They’re such contrasting personalities, and I’m really happy that audiences get to see these two completely different sides of me as an actor. Exploring such diverse characters is what makes acting so exciting, and I hope this gives people a glimpse of my versatility as a performer.”

Before her Hindi feature film debut, Anushka appeared in several film and digital projects, including It Happened in Calcutta (2020), State of Siege: Temple Attack (2021), Babli Bouncer (2022), Dr. Arora (2022), Taj: Divided by Blood (2023) and Bad Newz (2024).
