Unseen photos of Shah Rukh Khan in army uniform go viral after Colston Julian shares throwback

Shah Rukh Khan, who has portrayed men in uniform multiple times throughout his career, was recently seen donning an army outfit once again — this time in an unseen photoshoot shared by photographer Colston Julian. The newly surfaced pictures have delighted fans, reminding them of Shah Rukh’s earlier roles in Fauji, Army, Main Hoon Na, Veer Zaara, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Jawan.

Shah Rukh Turns ‘Fauji’ Again

Earlier this week, shortly after Shah Rukh’s 60th birthday, renowned photographer Colston Julian shared a series of throwback photos from one of his shoots with the actor. In the pictures, Shah Rukh wore an Indian Army uniform and posed at Mehboob Studios. “Shahrukh KHAN photographed on location at Mehboob Studios,” Colston captioned the post.

The photos included a long shot of Shah Rukh in uniform, followed by several close-ups — one of which showed him wearing an Army cap. Interestingly, the uniform carried a name tag that read Abhimanyu Rai, the name of Shah Rukh’s character in his debut television show Fauji. This detail led many fans to believe that the shoot may have been a concept or tribute piece.

About the Photoshoot and Photographer

Colston Julian is a veteran Indian photographer who has worked with several international and Indian icons, including Amitabh Bachchan, Judi Dench, John Travolta, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Shane Warne, Buddy Guy, and Anoushka Shankar. He first photographed Shah Rukh in 2013 for the Forbes India Celebrity 100 cover and later in 2017 for a Lux advertisement.

While Colston did not reveal when this army-themed photoshoot was taken, fans speculated that it was from a few years ago, likely before the pandemic. Many admired Shah Rukh’s look, with one fan commenting, “The uniform looks so stunning on him,” while another wrote, “He looks incredible in that uniform.”

Some even linked the look to Shah Rukh’s long-held dream of joining the army. In a past interview with journalist Rajiv Shukla, Shah Rukh had shared, “I wanted to be an army officer. But when I was at an army school, they told me to cut my hair, and I said no.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s Upcoming Release

Shah Rukh was last seen in Dunki (2023), directed by Rajkumar Hirani, which earned around Rs. 470 crores worldwide. The superstar is now preparing for his next film, King, directed by Siddharth Anand, scheduled for release in 2026. The film will mark his first on-screen collaboration with his daughter Suhana Khan, and his new silver-haired look in the recently released title announcement has already created buzz among fans.
