Vivek Oberoi donates his entire fee from Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana to charity: “I don’t want a penny”
Actor Vivek Oberoi, who is set to appear in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious epic Ramayana, has made a heartwarming gesture off-screen. The actor revealed that he has decided to donate his entire fee from the film to a charitable cause, saying he does not want to take home “a single penny” from the project.
A noble gesture for a meaningful cause
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Vivek Oberoi shared that he chose to forgo his remuneration for the film and instead donate it to help children battling cancer. “I told Namit that I don’t want a penny for this. I want to donate it to a cause I believe in — children with cancer. I told him I want to support you because I love what you’re doing, and I think this film will take Indian cinema to the global stage with a bang,” the actor said.
Vivek, who will be seen portraying Vibhishan — the righteous brother of Raavan — said his decision came from admiration for the project’s vision and the dedication of its makers.
Bringing Ramayana to the global stage
The actor praised producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari for their efforts in reimagining the mythological epic with world-class standards. He expressed his excitement about being part of a project that aims to take Indian storytelling to a global audience.
“What Namit and Nitesh are doing through Ramayana is truly taking Indian cinema to the global stage. This film is going to be India’s answer to Hollywood epics. They’re working with a company that has won several Oscars for visual effects and created iconic work. To take a deeply Indian-rooted story like Ramayana and present it on such a global scale — it can’t get bigger or better than that,” Vivek said.
