Homebound starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor selected for Toronto International Film Festival 2025
The film Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, has been officially chosen for the Toronto International Film Festival 2025 under the Gala Presentations category.
Karan Johar shared the movie’s recent achievement on Instagram, writing, “#Homebound has been officially selected for the Toronto International Film Festival 2025 (@tiff_net) in the Gala Presentations category. Extremely thrilled and elated to be a part of this prestigious festival – another time for us at Dharma!!!”

Additionally, Homebound has received a nomination at The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025. The drama, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, is competing for the ‘Best Film’ award alongside Kalki 2898 AD, L2: Empuraan, Maharaj, Meiyazhagan, Stree 2, and Superboys of Malegaon.
Homebound tells the story of two childhood friends from a small village in North India who aspire to become police officers, believing the job will earn them the respect they long for.
However, to their surprise, the pressures and challenges of chasing their dreams strain their friendship.
Jointly produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra under the banner of Dharma Productions, the film stars Ishaan Khatter as Mohammed Shoaib Ali and Janhvi Kapoor as Sudha Bharti. Vishal Jethwa plays Chandan Kumar, while Harshika Parmar portrays Vaishali, Chandan’s sister.
