Akashdeep Sabir says, “despite Rs 21 crores fee, Kareena Kapoor can’t afford security” as he shares thoughts on pay parity

Veteran filmmaker and Jigra actor Akashdeep Sabir has sparked a debate on pay parity in Bollywood, using Kareena Kapoor as an example. Sabir questioned why actors like Kareena, who charges a fee of Rs 21 crores, still face challenges in affording basic security measures. His comments come after Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his home, raising concerns about celebrity safety.

Akashdeep Sabir highlighted the disparity in earnings between male and female actors. He pointed out that while crowd-pulling actors like Allu Arjun earn significantly more than their female co-stars, even top actresses like Kareena Kapoor struggle to afford essential security. “This is why Kareena, with a price tag (fee) of Rs 21 crore, couldn’t afford a watchman outside her house,” Sabir stated in an interview with Lehren Retro. The Saif Ali Khan Incident and Security Concerns

The discussion around pay parity gained traction after Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an intruder at his Mumbai residence. The incident, which left the actor with multiple injuries, raised questions about the lack of security at his home. Sabir referenced the event to explain his point, stating, “When you will pay them Rs 100 crores, maybe then they can afford security or a driver at night.” He also questioned the effectiveness of CCTV cameras, noting that while they can “help solve crimes, they cannot prevent them.” Akashdeep Sabir’s Connection to the Kapoor Family

Sabir shared his perspective on the issue. Having directed and produced a film for Kareena’s sister, Karisma Kapoor, he expressed admiration for the couple, calling them “dignified and very distinguished.” However, he admitted he had no answers when asked why there was no security guard at Saif’s home during the attack. “It might be a safe building with 30 CCTVs, but how will a CCTV bring a hand out and stop the robber?” he added. Saif Ali Khan’s Recovery and the Aftermath

Saif Ali Khan, who sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine during the attack, underwent surgery to remove a 2.5-inch-long blade. The actor is currently recovering. Yesterday, he made his first appearance at the Next On Netflix event for the announcement of his upcoming project, Jewel Thief.
