Govinda recalls Shilpa Shetty’s playful tease after his accidental shooting incident: “ChiChi, who shot you”
Bollywood actor Govinda is all set to make his first on-camera appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show after an unfortunate accident in which he accidentally shot himself. In the promo released by Netflix for Saturday’s episode, Govinda opens up about the aftermath of the incident. While it's expected that he will go into more detail about the accident during the show, the promo also reveals Govinda’s account of Shilpa Shetty’s reaction to the shocking incident.
Seated alongside his nephew, actor Krushna Abhishek, and Chunky Panday, Govinda recalled the incident while speaking with Kapil Sharma. He shared that Shilpa Shetty had visited him after he was shot. "When Shilpa came to meet me, she first asked, 'ChiChi, how did you hurt yourself? Where was Sunita?' I told her, 'Sunita was out, she was visiting a temple,'" Govinda revealed. Govinda then went on to share how Shilpa playfully teased him and his wife after the incident. “She then asked, ‘Who shot you then?’" he said with a laugh. For those who are unaware, Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg on October 1. He was quickly rushed to a hospital in Mumbai, where he received treatment for a few days. Once discharged, Govinda met with the press and opened up about the details of the accident. “Initially, I couldn’t believe it had happened," Govinda said. “Thoda gehra lag gaya tha, jab laga tab vishwas nahi hua. Aisa laga ke yeh kya hua?" (It was a deep wound, and I couldn’t believe it had happened. I thought, ‘What just occurred?’) he recalled, describing the shock he felt after the incident. The actor shared that he was alone at the time of the incident, which occurred early in the morning, between 4:45 and 5:00 am, as he was preparing to travel to Kolkata. "I was getting ready to leave for the show... for Kolkata. It was around 4:45-5:00 am. Woh giri aur chal padi (the revolver fell and misfired). I felt a jhatka (shock) and then saw... there was a fountain (of blood)," he explained. Govinda was later photographed leaving the hospital in a wheelchair. However, just earlier this week, he reassured his fans that he was recovering well by stepping out to cast his vote in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. The actor walked to the polling booth unaided, without the need for a wheelchair or crutches, signaling a positive recovery.
