Zayed Khan reveals he was ‘hurt’ by Shah Rukh Khan making a comment on his acting skills; says, “I wanted to ask him can you act”

Main Hoon Na (2004) went on to become one of the most cherished films and one of the biggest blockbusters in the career of Zayed Khan. The latter recently shared an intriguing trivia about how he bagged the film wherein he revealed that he was quite ‘hurt’ by his onscreen elder rother Shah Rukh Khan when the latter made a few comments about his acting skills. In a recent interaction, as he shared an interesting interaction in the podcast Couple of Things, he reminisced about the film as he reunited with his co-star Amrita Rao in the show.

Zayed Khan recently revealed in Couple of Things, hosted by his Main Hoon Na co-star Amrita Rao and her RJ husband Anmol, about how he bagged the movie and stated that it was just a ‘hadsa’ (accident). He revealed that he contacted Farah Khan while shooting his debut Chura Liya Hai Tumne (starring Esha Deol), when the former shared the news about Main Hoon Na and invited him to SRK’s office.

Recalling his first meeting with Shah Rukh Khan for the film, Zayed Khan revealed how the latter questioned him about whether he can ‘act’ and that he was really hurt by the comment. “I was just listening to him but couldn’t really compute. Then he says that we have called you about the second lead part in Main Hoon Na I couldn’t say anything so he goes ‘yeh sab idhar udhar ki baatein band karte hain (Let's just stop discussing all these unimportant things), I just want to ask one question ‘Kya tum actor ho? Acting kar sakte ho?’ Mujhe bada bura laga ki aise mujhse kisine aise baat kia (Are you an actor? Can you act? I was deeply hurt because no one had ever spoken to me like that). Maine bola (I said) I was born to act. It came from a point of view that I wasn’t trying to be arrogant or anything. I was feeling very bad that he asked me that can you act? I wanted to ask him can you act? When I answered, he just chucked the question.”

For the unversed, Main Hoon Na was the second film in Zayed Khan’s career and he played the role of SRK’s brother Lucky aka Laxman Prasad Sharma with Amrita Rao playing the role of his love interest Sanjana Bakshi.
