27 Years of Dil To Pagal Hai: Karisma Kapoor take deep down memory lane and celebrates with nostalgic posts

Karisma Kapoor celebrated the 27th anniversary of Dil To Pagal Hai by sharing nostalgic moments from the film on her Instagram stories. The iconic romantic drama, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Karisma herself, holds a special place in Bollywood history.

In her first story, she posted a clip of her captivating solo dance from the song "Le Gaye," expressing her joy with the caption, "Since it's the release anniversary of DTPH," accompanied by dancing, heart, gratitude, and sparkle emojis.

In the next story, she shared a still from "The Dance of Envy," showcasing her performance alongside Madhuri Dixit, and reflected on the film's "Magic and the Memories," adding a blue heart emoji to emphasize her sentiment.

Dil Toh Pagal Hai, directed by Yash Chopra, was released on October 30, 1997, and has since become a beloved classic, celebrating its 27th anniversary today. The film, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Karisma Kapoor, was a massive box office success and continues to resonate with audiences.

On this milestone occasion, Karisma Kapoor, who portrayed the character Nisha, shared her nostalgic memories on Instagram through two heartfelt stories. During a past appearance on Indian Idol 12, she revealed that many actresses initially turned down the role of Nisha, and she had also hesitated at first. Ultimately, it was the chance to dance with Madhuri Dixit—renowned for her exceptional dance skills—that motivated her to accept the role. With encouragement from her mother, Karisma decided to embrace the opportunity and work hard, which led to her memorable performance in the film.

Karisma Kapoor shared her initial hesitation about taking on the role of Nisha in Dil Toh Pagal Hai, and stated, “Initially, I too said no to it as it was a dance film and involved competition dancing with Madhuri Dixit. I said, 'This isn't happening.' Then, finally, Yash ji and Adi narrated the story to me. My mother told me, 'You must take up the challenge. You are a big fan of Madhuri Dixit, and you must do it. You work hard, and you will shine.'"

Unlike other romantic films of the '90s, which often centered around family drama, Dil Toh Pagal Hai stood out as a musical romance, with its captivating dance sequences and memorable songs creating a significant impact among youth.

Karisma delivered an impressive performance as Nisha, who experiences unrequited love for Rahul, played by Shah Rukh Khan. Meanwhile, Rahul is in love with Pooja, portrayed by Madhuri Dixit, creating a compelling love triangle.

The film achieved remarkable commercial success, winning 23 awards and becoming one of the highest-grossing films of its release year, solidifying its status as a classic in Bollywood cinema.
