Vedang Raina opens up about the emotional toll of filming jail scenes in Jigra: “It was extremely traumatic”

Actor Vedang Raina is anticipating the release of his new Bollywood film Jigra, which stars Alia Bhatt. He recently discussed the emotional challenges he encountered while filming jail scenes, noting that fully immersing himself in his character had a significant mental impact. In a conversation with Times Now, he said, “It was extremely traumatic. To the point where whenever I think of the time when I was on set shooting for this, especially the jail sequences, I feel like I had become a different human being. I was putting myself through a lot mentally.”

Vedang discussed how he prepared for his role and gave a solid performance in the film. He confessed that he struggled to connect with the emotions required for his portrayal. He stated, “I was, but I also did a lot of prep to get into that headspace because I was dealing with an emotion I’ve obviously never felt before, being in jail and waiting for your death. I watched a lot of documentaries on prisons and death row inmates. I think that helped.”

Meanwhile, the makers have released the trailer. It opens with Alia Bhatt’s character receiving a late-night call about her brother, Ankur (played by Vedang Raina), being arrested. Confused and anxious, she asks if he has done something wrong and whether his blood tests will come back clean. The scene then shifts to Ankur in a courtroom abroad, struggling to understand the proceedings as he is taken into custody.

Determined to help her brother, Alia embarks on a mission to see him. She wonders if hurting herself would persuade the authorities to grant her access, but her requests are repeatedly denied. The trailer showcases her journey to the country where he is held and her fight for his release. It escalates with intense action as Alia performs daring stunts, evading guards and taking extreme risks to save her brother, who is suffering in jail. Despite facing numerous obstacles, she remains resolute.

The film is set to be released in theaters on October 11.
