EXCLUSIVE: Rajkummar Rao REVEALS Amar Kaushik's THIS ritual made Stree 2 set feel like family; recalls revisiting Stree with director and Shraddha Kapoor: “It was nostalgic”

Rajkummar Rao, alongside Shraddha Kapoor and the rest of the Stree gang, returned to the big screen with the much-anticipated sequel, Stree 2. Despite a three-way clash with John Abraham’s Vedaa and Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein, Stree 2 emerged as a box-office success. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rajkummar Rao shared insights into the filming process and his experience working with director Amar Kaushik.

A Family-Like Atmosphere on the Sets Rajkummar Rao opened up about the unique atmosphere on the sets of Stree 2. He revealed how Amar Kaushik, the director, fostered a sense of camaraderie that made the cast and crew feel like family. When asked if the team ever tried to scare each other on set, given the horror-comedy genre of the film, Rao immediately denied it, instead describing a lively and joyful environment.

"All of us were laughing right, left, and center. It was crazy, especially for me, Abhishek [Banerjee], and Aparshakti [Khurana] because we kept meeting even after the release of Stree," Rajkummar shared. He fondly referred to Amar Kaushik as their "fourth brother.” Amar Kaushik's Unique On-Set Ritual One of the key factors contributing to the light-hearted atmosphere on set was Amar Kaushik’s habit of playing music at the beginning of each shooting day. Rajkummar explained, "Amar has this habit that when we were coming on the sets, the first thing he would do is play a song. According to the scenes scheduled for that day, he would play a song, and then everybody would dance to it, no matter what the department was. You can get that family feeling because you feel there is no hierarchy. Everyone here has come to have fun, and everyone has come to make a good film." Revisiting Stree Before Filming the Sequel As Stree 2 is a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, Rajkummar was asked if he revisited the first film before stepping into the sequel. He confirmed that he, along with Shraddha Kapoor and Amar Kaushik, revisited Chanderi, the town where much of the first film was shot.

"I did. Almost 34 days before we started shooting. I, Shraddha, and Amar reached Chanderi days before the shoot started. We visited a bunch of places where we shot for the first part. It was nostalgic. Then all of us saw it together, just to refresh because it’s been six years. So it was important to go back to those characters," he explained.

Speaking of the film, produced by Maddock Films along with Jio Studios, Stree 2 was released on August 15. Besides the main cast, it also features cameos by Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar.
