Soha Ali Khan recalls struggles of first job: Earned Rs. 15K as banker, paid Rs. 17K rent
Soha Ali Khan, known for her roles in films like Rang De Basanti and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, recently shared insights into her early career before she ventured into Bollywood. In an interview with Curly Tales, Soha revealed that she had worked as a banker at Citibank in Mumbai. Despite her famous lineage as the daughter of Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and sister of Saif Ali Khan, Soha’s journey into the professional world began far from the glamour of the film industry.
Reflecting on her first job, Soha stated, "It was my second job, and the pay cheque was Rs. 2 lakhs a year." When the interviewer broke this down to a monthly salary of about Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 16,000, Soha elaborated, “That was my post graduate salary, and I was paying a rent of Rs. 17K.” This financial discrepancy highlighted the challenges she faced in her early career, trying to make ends meet while also aspiring to save money for travel to Delhi.
Soha's experience is a testament to her perseverance and determination. Despite the financial strain, she managed her expenses and continued to strive for her goals. Her journey from banking to Bollywood is a story of resilience, showing that even with a modest beginning, one can achieve significant milestones through hard work and dedication.
Apart from her acting career, Soha is also a successful writer. Her book, 'Moderately Famous,' became an instant best-seller, adding another feather to her cap. Today, she is celebrated not only for her performances on screen but also for her literary contributions, embodying a multifaceted career that began with humble beginnings.
