Sanjay Kapoor reveals, “Anil Kapoor maybe more successful, but I'm happier”
Bollywood actor Sanjay Kapoor recently opened up about his relationship with his brothers, Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor, highlighting the unique dynamics within their family. In a candid conversation with Shivani Pau, Sanjay shared his thoughts on their bond, emphasizing that despite Anil's greater success, he feels more content with his life.
Sanjay Kapoor said, “We lived together, and we were living in a two-bedroom hall when we started off. We are a very close-knit family. Obviously, then you have your own children, everything. There are times when I don’t meet Anil or Boney maybe for a month or month and a half also. But we respect each other, we love each other, and we are intelligent enough to know, okay, this is part of movie making.” This close family bond, according to Sanjay, has remained strong despite the frequent comparisons and pressures of their film careers.
Discussing the competition among the Kapoor brothers, Sanjay remarked, “Today, I have nieces, nephews, they are going through their highs, they’re going through lows, but our relation is not changing according to the Friday of the movie releases of Arjun or Sonam or Janhvi or whoever.” He further elaborated on his personal sense of happiness, saying, “I’m not saying there’s no competition. I think it’s a person-to-person thing. I think even though Anil is more successful than me, I always feel that I am happier and more content than him, for whatever reason. I am always saying God is kind. Even if I’ve achieved less than him, I just feel I’m happier. I’m always in a better mood. I’m not saying he’s sad or anything, but I don’t know how to put it. But I feel I’m more content than him.”
Sanjay also reflected on the challenges he faced in his career, despite coming from a well-known film family. He recalled how his brother Boney Kapoor did not cast him during his tough times. “My brother (Boney) didn’t cast me when I was going through the (tough) phase. When he made No Entry, he could have taken me instead of Fardeen Khan; but he didn’t. There already was Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan in its cast, so he could have sold the picture anyway. The picture would have done well anyway even if he took me. Things would have still happened the way it happened, and No Entry would have been a blockbuster,” he said.
Despite the ups and downs, Sanjay Kapoor's reflections showcase his deep sense of familial love and personal fulfilment. His openness about his journey and feelings towards his brothers offers a refreshing perspective on life in the spotlight, proving that success is not solely measured by career achievements, but also by one's personal contentment and happiness.
