Konkona Sen Sharma CONFESSES she “scandalised” herself while writing her segment for Lust Stories 2: “I was like, aise kaise likh sakte hain?”

Versatile actor and director Konkona Sen Sharma sheds light on the daring storyline of The Mirror, her segment in the acclaimed Lust Stories 2 anthology on Netflix. The talented artist reveals how a real-life incident scandalised even her while she was deep into the writing process. In an interview with ANI, Konkona delves into the genesis of The Mirror, a narrative that intricately explores themes of sexuality, desire, and societal class distinctions through the lens of lust.

For the unversed, The Mirror revolves around Ishita, a graphic designer played by Tillotama Shome, in her early 40s, who, upon discovering her house-help Seema (Amruta Subhash) engaged in an intimate act with her husband Kamal (Shrikant Yadav), takes an unexpected turn. Rather than following societal norms, Ishita becomes a voyeur, intentionally arriving home to witness the couple's encounters.

The intriguing twist in the plot finds its roots in reality, as Konkona shared, “I heard this real-life story. My friend who lives on her own came back one day and encountered a situation like this herself, the bai, except there was no conversation; she put her hand out, the bai put the key, and the story ended.”

Konkona confessed that the shock factor hit her during the writing phase, exclaiming, “I honestly, I never thought of that. I never thought so far ahead. I shocked myself when we were writing it. I was like, aise kaise likh sakte hain?”

The seasoned actor elaborates on her thought process, admitting, “My God ... we will write this...there so much will do. I scandalized myself only, but I found it a very exciting and almost dangerous idea, and I never thought are people ready or not ready to accept it.”

Despite her initial reservations, Konkona expressed surprise at the positive reception, acknowledging that many viewers resonated with the bold narrative. She remained open to the possibility that some sections might not appreciate it, but the overall response has been affirming.

Speaking of the professional front, Konkona is currently making headlines for her performance in the Netflix crime series Killer Soup, directed by Abhishek Chaubey. The series features an ensemble cast also including Manoj Bajpayee, Nasser, Sayaji Shinde, Lal, Anbuthasan, Anula Navlekar, and Kani Kusruti. It revolves around the mishaps and cover-ups triggered by Swathi Shetty, a passionate cook. The narrative takes unexpected turns, plunging the characters into a series of accidents and challenges.
