Anil Sharma discusses the ‘reasonable’ budget of Gadar 2; says, “These days, heroes and directors charge so much”
Gadar 2 is becoming one of the highly anticipated releases of the week. While the first instalment of the film tasted immense success, fans are eagerly waiting to see what the sequel has in store. Apart from Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprising their famous roles of Tara Singh and Sakeena respectively, the upcoming sequel will also see a grown up Jeete, which is reprised by Utkarsh Sharma. Speaking about the movie and making his comeback to direction, Anil Sharma recently opened up about the budget of the movie and called it ‘reasonable’.
In a recent interview, Anil Sharma was seen discussing about maintaining the budget of Gadar 2 and expressed gratitude towards his actors for maintaining reasonable standards. Anil Sharma was quoted telling Lehren, "We made an effort to control everybody’s fees. Sunny’s fees are what it is, it’s okay, it’s just one person, but even he compromised quite a bit." In the same breath, he also compared with highly mounted films with lavish projects where actors charge a whopping amount to complete a project. He went on to add, "These days, heroes and directors charge so much, the budgets end up ballooning up to Rs 600 crore, and sometimes the heroes charge Rs 150 crore and Rs 200 crore."
Gadar 2, directed by Anil Sharma, is also expected to mark the Bollywood debut of the young actress Simrat Kaur Randhawa, who will be seen as the love interest of Utkarsh Sharma. While the first film released in 2001, the franchise will be returning to the big screens after two decades. Also starring Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Luv Sinha, Mir Sawar, Rakesh Bedi, among others, the film is slated for release on August 11. It will also be facing a clash with the Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Kumar and Yami Gautam starrer OMG 2.
