EXCLUSIVE: "Akshay Kumar is not worried if his co-stars get good punches and dialogues,” says Selfiee co-actor Akashdeep Sabir; calls him “confident artist”

After being featured in a couple of Facebook ads, a full-time director gradually developed an interest and decided to face the camera for the second innings of his career. Akashdeep Sabir, who’s last directorial debut was Santa Banta (2017), is now all set to tickle the funny bone of the audience with his appearances in various upcoming films, including Akshay Kumar starrer Selfiee. While talking to Bollywood Hungama, Akashdeep recalled his experience of working with his friends, but this time as a co-actor. Speaking of Akshay, Akashdeep lauded the actor for being secure and confident of himself. He also went on to reveal that Akshay often gave his punch lines to Akashdeep during the shoot of Selfiee. In Akashdeep’s words, “After being friends for so long, I signed a film to share the screen space with Akshay Kumar. I met him in Bhopal. He met me exactly the way we met on the sets of Mr & Mrs Khiladi in the 90s. He is such a comfortable actor to work with. He is so confident in himself.” Sabir further added, “He is not worried if his co-stars get good punches and dialogues. In fact, he gave me his punches as well. He starts at 7 in the morning and wraps by 3 or 4 in the evening with a no-nonsense attitude.” As the conversation progressed further, Akashdeep went on to shed some light on his experience with Anil Kapoor in The Night Manager as well. He recalled, “Then I worked with Anil Kapoor and met him on the sets of The Night Manager. I told him that you are still the same. It felt like it was the first day of his work; he was that excited and focused. I was like - Oh My God! You are still like a newcomer facing the camera for the first time.” Coming to the professional front, besides Selfiee, Akashdeep has a bunch of projects in his kitty including Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Shehzada, Sam Bahadur, Three Monkeys, Trial Period (which will be Genelia D’Souza’s comeback project in the Hindi film industry), and Crack, among others.
